About the Job
Accounting Manager
Hudson Entry & Automation Inc. - London, Ontario

We don’t just hire people - we build teammates who raise the standard.

If you’re the kind of person who stays calm when the numbers get messy, cares about the details no one else sees, and wants a real seat at the table as a company scales, this might be your next long-term move.

Hudson Entry & Automation protects people, property, and livelihoods across Southwestern Ontario. The work is serious, the pace is real, and the standard is high. We move fast, rely on each other, and take pride in doing things properly.

We also believe serious work can still be human. Expect a close-knit team, a good sense of humour, National Pretzel Day, the occasional rock-paper-scissors tournament, and teammates who can laugh and still deliver.

The Mission: Protect the cash today, build the future tomorrow.
Hudson is a multi‑million‑dollar security integration company scaling aggressively over the next few years. This role is not just about keeping the books. It is about building the financial backbone of a growing company and helping create the systems, visibility, and discipline needed for the next chapter.

The right person will be a tactical, data-driven Accounting Manager who wants to plant their flag, own the numbers, and help build a stronger business over the long term.

Your Operational Box (The “Now” - First 90 Days)

The Software Handshake:
  • Oversee the flow of financial and operational data between the accounting system and related business platforms.
  • Ensure invoicing, scheduling, and job-costing information stays accurate and synchronized across all systems, reducing manual work and protecting financial integrity.
  • When something does not reconcile, dig in until it is right.

Full Cycle Accounting:
  • Own the general ledger and journal entries.
  • Ensure vendors are paid, customer invoices are collected, fixed assets are tracked accurately, and bank and credit card reconciliations are completed and balanced.
  • Manage HST filings, WSIB reporting, and coordination with the external accounting firm for year-end and corporate tax compliance.

Month-End Close & Compliance:
  • Lead a swift and accurate month-end close process.
  • Produce reliable financial statements and maintain internal controls that keep the books clean, audit-ready, and compliant with GAAP standards.
  • Refine the month-end process so that even when the pace gets hectic, the numbers stay calm and clear.

Budget, Forecasting & Variance Analysis:
  • Take ownership of the existing 2026 budget and weekly cash flow forecasts.
  • Maintain the model, update actuals, analyze variances, and report meaningful discrepancies directly to the owner.

Job-Costing Integrity:
  • Track materials and labour against estimates for the Security, Perimeter, and Doors divisions.
  • Spot margin bleed early, surface issues quickly, and help identify patterns before they become expensive habits.

Payroll, Benefits & People Paperwork:
  • Process bi-weekly payroll and administer the company health benefits programme.
  • Manage confidential employee documentation, including job postings, forwarding applications to hiring managers, and preparing and securely filing employee contracts and records.

Who Thrives at Hudson:
  • Stays calm when things get messy. Month-end pressure, last-minute job changes, and unexpected problems do not create panic - they trigger focus.
  • Takes ownership. Problems are surfaced early, addressed honestly, and followed through to completion.
  • Learns fast. New software, new workflows, and new business challenges are approached with curiosity and drive.
  • Wants to belong to a high-performance team, not just collect a paycheque. Respect, trust, and credibility are earned through consistency, accountability, and effort.

Hudson is building a small, sharp A-team - people who want to be counted on when it matters.

This role will not be a fit for someone who is arrogant, disrespectful, blames others when things go wrong, or wants to coast. Hudson has a strict no-jerks policy.

What You Bring to the Table:

Experience:
  • 3+ years of progressive, full-cycle financial accounting experience, with a proven track record in financial reporting, cost control, or process improvement.
  • Experience in construction, trades, or B2B businesses is strongly preferred.

Education:
  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce. A CPA is not required.

System Mastery:
  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online, Dext, and advanced spreadsheets.
  • Comfortable managing data flow between field operations software, accounting platforms, and reporting tools.

Potential Matters Too:
  • Not every strong candidate will match every line on paper. If experience is a little light, but the person is sharp with numbers, learns quickly, works hard, and takes real ownership, an application is still encouraged.
  • Maybe the title has not caught up to the capability yet. That is fine. Hudson is open to people who can prove they have the brains, judgment, and work ethic to grow into the role.

What Hudson Offers:

Salary:
  • $65,000-$85,000, based on experience, with clear milestones for compensation growth as the role develops toward a Controller-level band.

Schedule & Time Off:
  • Full-time, on-site role based in London, Ontario.
  • 42.5 hours per week, with an initial three weeks of paid vacation.

Benefits:
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.

Work Environment & Culture:

This is a visible, meaningful position in an agile, close-knit office. The work done in this seat will influence decisions across the company - from cash flow to hiring to operational planning.

Hudson aims to offer a professional, stable environment where serious work gets done by human people. There is high accountability, but also humour, trust, and real team spirit, including family-friendly events such as a Christmas party and a summer BBQ.

How to Apply:
Send a CV and a short note telling Hudson why this role fits.

Strong applications should briefly share one example of a time you:
  • Stayed calm when the pressure spiked,
  • Solved a messy financial or operational problem, or
  • Took ownership of something important and saw it through.

Care, clarity, and effort stand out.
